In 1972, the year Title IX was enacted, there was a 7 percentage point difference between men and women enrolled in higher education. Today, that difference is 25 percentage points — but the gender difference is flipped.

In 1979, 200,000 more women were enrolled in college than men. By 2021, that difference had grown to about 3.1 million more women than men in college.

More than 45,000 fewer boys than girls graduated high school each year.

36% of women in California will earn a bachelor's degree by the time they are in their early to mid-20s, compared to only 24% of men.

Two-thirds of students scoring in the top 10% of high school GPA are girls, whereas boys make up two-thirds of the bottom 10%.

The most common grade for a girl to receive in high school is an A, while for boys it’s a B.
