What We Do

Truly Equal works to ensure gender equality laws are enforced.

We identify violations to Title IX’s requirement that any organization receiving federal funds are prohibited from creating or promoting any program or scholarship that discriminates against a gender or sex.

Since 2018, Truly Equal and our partners have reviewed more than 5,000 colleges and universities for compliance with Title IX. We have filed more than 5,600 complaints with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights, requesting investigation into scholarships or programs that discriminate based on sex or gender.

Problem We’re Solving

Gender inequality on college campuses is greater than ever — but the equation is flipped from when Title IX became law.

In 1972, the year Title IX was enacted, there was 12 percentage point difference between men and women enrolled in higher education — 56% men and 44% women.

Today, 62% of college students are women and 38% are men — a 24 percentage point difference.
